The Governor's Energy Office (GEO) was re-created in 2007 by Colorado's governor. The GEO's mission is to lead Colorado to a New Energy Economy by advancing energy efficiency and renewable, clean energy resources.

The Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE) is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), as part of the U.S Department of Energy, is the United States' primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development.

PVWatts is a tool that calculates electrical energy production and cost savings of grid-connected photovoltaic systems. This tool was created by researchers at NREL and is designed for non-experts to quickly, and accurately, obtain performance estimates for PV systems.

Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is the national trade association representing companies in the renewable energy field. Established in 1974, SEIA works to expand the use of solar technologies in the global marketplace. Most states have their own division of SEIA. The United States Department of Energy (DOE) is a Cabinet-level department of the U.S. government concerned with the United States' policies regarding energy. One of its responsibilities is energy-related research.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) collects, analyzes, and disseminates independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment.

Solar Energy International (SEI) was founded as a non-profit educational organization. SEI offers hands-on workshops and online courses in renewable energy, as well as, working cooperatively with grassroots and development organizations around the world.

The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is a non-profit association of solar professionals and advocates. Their mission is to inspire an era of energy innovation and speed the transition to a sustainable energy economy by advancing education, research, and policy.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a public benefit corporation which funds energy supply and efficiency research and energy-related environmental issues.  Their mission is to "advance innovative energy solutions in ways that improve New York's economy and environment".
